Now that we've finished the toy making process, it was time to pack it all up and package it so that it feels more like a real toy we made from a company.
Brainstorming ideas on what shape of the box will be or what type of materials I should use took me a long time.
I had an original idea of putting my props in a box and my toy in another. The props would be in an origami pencil that would be attached to an origami school. That, I thought, would take a huge paper to make those origamis look like a package.
I know I could use templates but I made that my last option since it wouldn't be as thought through as making the package a 3D origami by itself.
But in the end, I used the template instead, and here's why:
Before starting on a big paper to fold and maybe make a lot of mistakes, I used square origami papers and some A4 paper that I had cut into squares, for draft first.
I watched some YouTube tutorials to help guide me through how I could fold my papers into origamis.

The body of the school, I thought, I would use a separate origami box and try connecting them together.

I also thought of making an origami backpack and I thought I could fit the props in it so that it can have more protection when I pack them in the package/box together with the actual toy. I thought the tutorial was clear and the backpack was cute. The props even fit perfectly in the backpack and I was elated when I fit it in.

Then I tried thinking of a way to fit the roof perfectly to the box/body of the school so that it doesn't fall off and I can still open it and get it packaged up.
I purposely chose the box with flaps because I wanted to use it to close up the package.

I tried to cut open part of the roof so that the flaps could go in. The dotted part showed what I had cut open. First, I cut only one side of the roof which is shown on the picture above.
Unfortunately, this was the result:

So I decided to cut the two other sides and see what happens.
The flap was too long to fit in the open sides so I had to cut it shorter (shown in the 3rd picture above).
It didn't turn out great either so I didn't use origami. I then proceeded to just use templates
I continued to search the internet for some templates I may get inspiration from.
I couldn't find any templates for school that would make it look like I did something and not just copied everything. However, I found a template for a house and figured I could use it but maybe make some modification so it looks like a school.
I finally found a great template for a house, the link is below:

I figured the template would be too small if I just printed it out with my printer, which can hold A4 as the biggest.
So I bought a bigger and tougher paper to copy the template and draw it on the bigger one.
Below is the picture of the the template that I drew on the bigger paper. I pasted pictures of the toy and mentioned it as 'cuztomizable'.
Then I coloured the roof with red and left the body white because adding any other colour wouldn't make it look like a school. Usually I see the walls of schools as just plain white.
Then I cut out a hole in the middle of the front of the package and I would tape a plastic on it so it is see through. I even drew a background inside the package so when u see through the opening, you will be able to see a background that has a whiteboard and a decorated wall for primary schools or nursery students.
After cutting out the template and folding it up, finally, this was the result:

Then I decided to make an origami divider to cover hold the toy in so that it won't move around so much. I put it in the base of the package and it held the accessories (with the origami backpack to hold them in), the female hair, the male hair and the toy.
I didn't want to just put the toy in it and just tape it up, I wanted to be able to fold it up and open it without using any glue or tape.
I was inspired by the McDonald's Happy Meal packaging toy. I did something like it. I cut out parts of the package here and there. Then, with the help of my mother's more careful hand, I ended up with this:

I even realised that the folding of the paper (last 2 pictures above) looks like an open book which I thought was relevant in my theme.
